A Brief History

The College is named after Kushalewar Mahadev of Deogaon which is a historical place stated by the State Government. It is said that the temple was built in the 12th century A.D. and Kushaleswar was worshipped there. For a long longtime there has been the importance of the place. When a College was established in this locality, it was named after the deity.

A group of dignified persons of the locality held a meeting in the temple premises and discussed about establishing a College in the locality. The proposal was passed with great enthusiasm. As a result. The College was opened in the year 1978.

Due to lack of effort, it could not get Govt. permission and affiliation and ran helplessly. In 1983, it got Govt. permission and affiliated with the Council of Higher Education, Orissa. For +2-Arts 128 seats were sanctioned. Due to growing demand of students, the seats were increased from 128 to 256 in 1986.

In 1988, due to high demand of people, +3 classes were opened. The College got a permission of 128 seats and in 1994-95 it was increased to 192 seats. In the same year History Honours was opened and 16 seats were sanctioned for it. In 2001-02, the College got a permission to open Political Science and Oriya Honours having 16 seats each. Economics as Honours from 2007-08 and having B.Sc. degree from 2010 in P.C.M. – 32 seats and C.B.Z.-32 seats. At present +2-Arts – 256 seats, +2-Science-96 seats and +2-Commerce-64 seats along with 256 seats in +3 Arts-Eng(H)-08, Odia(H)-64,History(H)48, Economics(H)-32, Pol. Science(H)- 64, Physics(H)-08, Chemistry(H)- 08, Botany(H)-16 and Zoology(H)- 16nos.

Since 1978, the College has been satisfying the need of the people of the locality in obtaining higher education. It has produced hundreds of students established in different sections of the society.
